Erosion Triffid

Once a pair of proud tall Pacific pines,
Ruling over virgin coastal forest floor,
The carbon your trunks voluminously embraced,
Released, has now brought the oceans rising to your base.

Abandoned like monsters emerging from the deep,
To gain their vengeance up the beach they creep,
Roots dried out through saline abuse,
Trumpet Armageddon’s arrival, thermal rising on the loose.
